What are some of the things you may be able to see while taking the best  and most exciting sailing tour in san diego?
Most sailing tours in San Diego take place in the beautiful San Diego Bay. If you have never heard or been to san diego, you can learn a lot from the San Diego Bay wiki page; here is an excerpt:
San Diego Bay is a natural harbor and deepwater port located in San Diego CountyCalifornia near the U.S.–Mexico border. The bay, which is 12 miles (19 km) long and 1 to 3 miles (1.6 to 4.8 km) wide, is the third largest of the three large, protected natural bays on California’s entire 840 miles (1,350 km) long coastline after San Francisco Bay and Humboldt Bay. The highly urbanized land adjacent to the bay includes the city of San Diego (eighth largest city in the United States) and four other cities: National CityChula VistaImperial Beach and Coronado.”  source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego_Bay.
A much better and more exciting way to learn about the history of San Diego Bay is to book a sailing tour on the famous stars and stripe racing yacht.  The tour is narrated by the captain’s wife and she does an amazing job at narrating the historic sites that are littered throughout the bay.  This is not your ordinary sailing charter or booze cruise, rather it is an experience of a lifetime and allows for each passenger to steer the boat, man the winches and be part of the crew.  With over 950 reviews on Tripadvisor and another few hundred 5 star reviews floating around the internet; it is quite apparent that the Stars and Stripe USA 11 is the best sailing charter in San Diego, Ca.
Here are just a smidgen of the positive reviews from tripadvisor regarding the Stars and Stripes sailing charters.
A crew of 10 for a group of 8 made for an exceptional experience. The San Diego weather was perfect and an ocean breeze filled our sails for a delightful 3 hours of sailing. Once we were out in the bay and the motor was killed, we, along with a few crew members raised the sails and the winds took over from there. It was a thrilling experience to be under the power of nature and the experience of a very well trained crew. The views from the water we breath taking and manuvering around other vessels was exciting as we each were able to take the helm and steer clear of approaching obstacles. That was awesome. Everyone was so kind and answered any and all questions. This is a must-do for your San Deigo trip. Carol Graham

I have been watching the America’s Cup boat races for most of my life. Never did I dream I would actually have the opportunity to sail on one! My experience aboard the USA-11 was amazing! I had the opportunity to help the crew hoist the sail, grind the winches and even drive the boat ๐Ÿ™‚ I highly recommend this once in a lifetime experience with this incredible crew! I am lucky to live in San Diego, but only recently learned of this great way to spend the day! Great views of downtown San Diego, the harbor and Coronado Island. I can’t wait to sail with the USA-11 team again!!!!!!! Well worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been sailing for about 15 years now and never quite had an experience like the one I had with Stars and Stripes. I have never been on a boat that was so big and powerful. Being able to drive was a dream come true! Capt. Lynn was wonderful the whole time and the rest of the crew did a great job making everything run smoothly. I can’t wait to get back out with them for another sail. I’m living in San Diego now and I just can’t wait to join them again.

We’ve all been there: stripped down ex race boats with rags for sails and less than motivated crew. Last one I was on had the first reef bolted in with blocks because the
cringles had gone south.
Not “Stars and Stripes”. She’s a fully tuned Farr 60 with laminate sails, all running
gear in top shape, even an unusually clean bottom for a tour boat. Best of all, the crew
was really sharp. They were patient with the non sailors and proud to allow experienced
guests a turn at grinding, driving, even jib pit.
As a die hard PHRF racer I enjoyed watching Captain Lynn’s mates put the boat through
her paces. As an ASA instructor I appreciated the efforts the crew took to ensure every
guest had a memorable sail.
Grab your sailing gloves and go, you won’t regret it.

What you will see during the famous sailing tour are some of the following:
  1. USS Midway (Museum) was America’s longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century.
  2. San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge
  3. Some of America’s most historic ships,  Star of India, Submarines, The Berkeley ferryboat, and many more.
  4. Downtown San Diego from the water
  5. Dolphins, Sea Lions, and maybe even a whale
  6. We have also, seen sea planes landing and taking off, boat races, and the famous shark boat
The historic side of the sailing charter is just a small piece of the experience, the real uniqueness of the sail is being able to experience the speed of this 78 feet long acing yacht with a beam of 17 feet, a mast 115 feet tall,  going twice the speed of any other sailing boat or sailing charter. Zipping thru San Diego bay on an International America’s Cup Class yacht is what sets this way apart from any other sailing tour or sailing charted in san diego.  To be part of the crew and to be able to steer the boat and feel that power is why most every guest remembers this as a lifetime experience and one of if not the BEST THING TO DO IN SAN DIEGO!
The Stars and Stripes Sailing Tour even gets people who do not like to sail; claim that this was there best experience while visiting san diego. You can view all the Trip Advisory Reviews by clicking here.
